Who runs this site
This site is operated by Growing Brave Press, a small independent children's-book imprint in the United Kingdom. For the purposes of UK data protection law we are the "controller" of any personal data described here. The best way to reach us about anything on this page is [email protected].
What we collect, and why
The only personal data this site collects is your email address, and only if you actively submit it through the "Be told when it's out" signup form for Sofia's Safe Circle. We use it for a single purpose: to send you one message on the day the book is available.
We do not use your address for marketing, do not share it with anyone beyond the email service named below, and do not profile, enrich, or sell it. We will not contact you again without your explicit opt-in.
Lawful basis
We process your email on the basis of your consent (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(a)). Submitting the form is your active opt-in. You can withdraw consent at any time — either by following the unsubscribe link in the launch email, or by emailing us directly.
Who else processes it
Your email is stored and sent through Resend, the email service we use for the launch notification. Resend acts as our data processor, handling your address only on our instructions.
The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages, which also provides our content delivery, security, and the analytics and anti-abuse features described below.
Both Resend and Cloudflare may process data in the United States. Where that happens, the transfer is covered by the EU/UK Data Privacy Framework or equivalent safeguards under UK GDPR Articles 45 and 46.
Analytics and bot protection
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand, in aggregate, how the site performs. It is cookieless: it sets no cookies, does not fingerprint your device, and does not track you across other websites. It collects only coarse, aggregated measurements such as page views and load timings.
The signup form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to prevent automated abuse. Turnstile does not show puzzles and does not track you across sites; it uses minimal, privacy-preserving signals only to tell humans from bots.
We do not use Google Analytics, the Meta Pixel, or any other third-party advertising or cross-site tracking on this site.
How long we keep it
Your email is kept until either:
- you unsubscribe — in which case it is removed from the launch list immediately; or
- a reasonable period after the launch notification has been delivered — no more than six months — after which it is deleted regardless.
Your rights under UK GDPR
You have the right to:
- ask what personal data we hold about you;
- ask us to correct or delete it;
- withdraw your consent at any time;
- complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office if you think we have handled your data poorly.

Children
This site is about a children's book, but it is not directed at children. The signup form is for the adults in a child's life. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle data, we will update this page and the date at the top. Material changes will be flagged in the launch email if they happen before it goes out.
